Platinum 3D Consultants performed a 3D survey and Revit modelled various locations within the Natural History Museum estate. Some of the LOD3 models included piping, ducting, lighting, switches and sockets. This additional requirement was particularly complex within the laboratories and plant rooms. Permanent control was established as part of an earlier project at the Museum. All models are geo-referenced so they are located within the same co-ordinate system and can be linked into a single master project.
The model is part of a wider Museum strategy to prioritise and make an impact in digital technology and innovative platforms, where BIM has been identified as an effective information management tool. The architectural ‘BIM ready’ models will provide a base model to aid collaborative design and management of the Museum.
